As you know, my diagnosis of the change is electronic. When the globe becomes a single electronic computer, with all its languages and cultures recorded on a single tribal drum, the fixed point of print culture becomes irrelevant and impossible, no matter how precious. But no, there is a chance of retaining such values, after due appraisal of both old and new media. But the old values cannot be achieved by the old methods. And I do not mean that we should attempt to achieve the values of print culture by teaching print by film or television. The latter course is totally destructive of print values.
